We helped a family in Connells Point turn their backyard into a stunning outdoor retreat. They wanted a space that was both beautiful and safe for everyone to enjoy. Our solution was to use natural travertine stone in a ‘crazy paving’ style. This project shows how the right materials can create a perfect outdoor area.
The Goal: A Lovely and Safe Outdoor Space
The homeowners asked us to upgrade their pool area and garden paths. They dreamed of a place that felt like a permanent holiday. It needed to be stylish but also practical for Australian conditions. We chose Turkish Beige Travertine because it is a strong and attractive natural stone. It gives that classic, sun-soaked look of the Mediterranean.
What We Did: The Design and Build
We laid the stone in an irregular pattern around the pool and through the garden. This ‘crazy paving’ style looks wonderfully organic, just like old European courtyards. The warm beige colour looks great next to the blue pool water and green plants.
We made sure the design was not just pretty but also clever. The stone’s slightly rough texture makes it non-slip for pool areas, which is vital for wet pool zones. It also stays cool on hot summer days, so it’s comfortable to walk on. This stone is tough enough to handle sun, rain, and even pool chlorine without fading or cracking.
We also created a lovely walkway connecting all outdoor areas. It makes the whole garden feel like one seamless space. We added some gentle outdoor lighting to highlight the stone’s natural beauty in the evening.

The finished backyard is a true private backyard oasis. It feels luxurious and relaxing but also completely natural. The family now has a private resort right at home.
